Exciting Solar News

IBM, yes that very large company announced today that they are on the way toward making solar photo voltaic power affordable.

The methodology employed is really for a solar farm as it involves a lot of equipment to concentrate the sun’s rays, but the exciting part is that they have developed an advanced system for cooling the silicon chip.

The idea of concentrating isn’t that new, but it has always had the problem of possibly melting the silicon. IBM has come up with a new and very advanced system to counter this problem. I agree with other commentators I have read this morning that although this is similar in approach to the Sunrgi technology, it is from an already large company that isn’t going to be strapped for financing thus making it much more probable that this will see production happening in the short term!
